This wildlife safari packaged tour to Addo Elephant National Park area is situated in a dense valley bush veld region of the Eastern Cape, 75km from Port Elizabeth. Addo Elephant National Park is a well-appointed park that provides sanctuary to more than 470 elephants.

Lion have been translocated from Kgaligadi Transfrontier Park and introduced into Addo for the first time since 1879, completing the 'Big Five' at the park.

We depart Cape Town early on day 1 and travel via the scenic Garden Route, passing through picturesque towns such as Wilderness, Knysna and Plettenberg Bay en route to Port Elizabeth. From there it's a relatively short distance to Addo. Besides the opportunity to view the world's largest land mammal close up, other exciting and varied wildlife to be seen includes:

Buffalo, black rhino, lion, leopard, kudu, eland, grey duiker, Cape grysbok, red hartebeest, bush pig, ant eater, caracal, black backed jackal, mongoose, genet cat, black-footed cat, polecat and vervet monkeys. The release of spotted hyena into the park is also imminent. Addo is also home to a rich variety of bird life, with more than 150 species of raptors and other birds to be found. This exceptional wildlife and wilderness experience is a must for both local and overseas visitors.

Expected driving: Tarred roads to park entrance. Within the park we travel on good gravel and dirt tracks.

Accommodation:

Set in a spectacular krantz above the Bushman's River valley in the Greater Addo Area, this spectacular Safari Lodge offers an ultimate luxury southern African bush experieince set in the Eastern Cape Valley Bushveld.


Designed with great care to blend in with the natural surroundings, this theme extends as well to the cuisine offered which is both traditional and contemporary African cuisine.. The lodge therefore offers the guest a true African experience encompassing all of ones senses, and not tempered by Western or European influences except where comfort and service are concerned. In this regard, guests can expect every service they would expect of an exclusive 5 star international establishment.

The main lodge comprises of a reception, dining and sitting area with a central fireplace which is always welcome in winter, a media and library area with Internet, television, dvd player, games and books and a large wooden pool deck overlooking a small dam frequented by buffalo. A separate area known as a “boma” adjoins the main lodge where bush braais and special festivities may be enjoyed.

The four suites are each individually styled in African simplicity while never compromising on luxury, sleeps 2 guests and are privately located separate to the main lodge. Each suite is well appointed for a guests’ optimal comfort with every amenity including large, en suite bathrooms each with a spa bath overlooking the African bush, an indoor and outdoor shower for the more adventurous, a central fireplace for romantic evenings, a private wooden deck, bar fridge and hot drink amenities. Beds are King size or 2 singles depending on guest requirement. All suites are air conditioned while bar fridges and automatic kettles are an added convenience. All our suites are luxurious but the “honeymoon suite” with a hug e four poster mahogany bed can be reserved for that special occasion.

Your stay will be made special by personalised attention and arrangements tailor-made to suit your requirements. There is a full range of catering options, excursions and activities. These include game drives (both day and night- time), bird watching, picnic lunches and a river cruise.

Important:
Due to the popularity of Addo, we must receive bookings at least 4 weeks before the intended departure date in order to make reservations within the park. Guests wanting to visit during local school holidays should book at least 8 weeks before departure date. A minimum of 2 persons is required for this safari package. A total of 10 persons can comfortably be accommodated in our vehicles. Larger groups will only be considered where bookings are made 8 weeks before departure date.

Please note: All bookings must be paid in full on confirmation. Exceptions: 4 - 6 months advance bookings 50% on confirmation of booking. The balance 100% 30 days prior to departure.

Activities: Itinerary for the Addo Safari

Depart Cape Town 8am, lunch en route. We travel through the world famous Garden Route to get there, so you will see the garden route which normally is considered a large tour all on its own in South Africa. Arrival at lodge at approximately 5pm.

Besides this there are over 450 Elephants in the park which makes it the largest number in a reserve in South Africa. Inclusive in this Safari Package is:

  • Night time 4 X 4 Game Drives
  • Day time vechicle Game Drives
  • All meals are inclusive( breakfast, lunch and dinner)
  • Also inclusive (soft drinks, wine and beer)
  • All accommodation, transport and entrance fees are included.

The great thing about this taylor made Safari is that on the way back from the world famous Garden Route we stop at either the Primate Sanctuary Monkeyland near Plettenberg Bay or Somerset West Monkeyland. It is a living forrest experieince that will stay with you forever.

Value for money wise, the value of this Safari Package would normally cost R24000.00 per person if we had to take people to Botswana or Namibia to see as much game and do all the activities.

EXTRAS: Ukwamkela Safaris will provide the following:(inclusive in package price) Beer, wine, soft drinks and snacks be will be supplied throughout the 4/5 days.
EXTRAS: For clients own account; as there is bush pub at the lodge and mini bars in the guest bedrooms. Any drinking over above what is supplied by Ukwamkela Safaris will be paid by the respective client to the lodge pub.
